Assignment: Organizational Culture- Action Plans
Overview
Throughout the class you will work on a series of assignments that focus on the organizational culture for one specific non-profit organization. To complete this series of assignments, students are asked to identify one specific non-profit organization (i.e. church, non-profit ministry, para-church organization) and to utilize the same organization for all three assignments.
The three specific assignments that will utilize the same non-profit organization are:
I. Organizational Culture: Overview Assignment
II. Organizational Culture: Assessment Assignment
III. Organizational Culture: Action Plans Assignment
Instructions
The first step in the Organizational Culture assignments was to provide a general overview of the organization using the "Three Levels of Culture" identified by Edgar Schein. The second step in the Organizational Culture assignments was to assess the organization's culture.
The final step in the Organizational Culture assignments is to provide action plans to address areas of concern within the organization.
Students are to provide two action plans, and these actions plans must be specific to the organization and must include a proposed timeline for implementation.
The suggested outline (with corresponding prompts to consider) for this assignment (Organizational Culture: Action Plans Assignment) is the following:
I. Introduction (no more than½ page)
II. Action Plan 1 (1-1.5 pages)
1. Identify which level of culture this action plan relates to within the organization
2. Provide a brief summary of the issue being addressed (this can be brief, as the assessment piece was provided in the "Organizational Culture Assessment Assignment")
3. Explain proposed Action Plan for addressing the area of concern (be sure to include key personnel/positions that should be involved with the action plan)
4. Provide a timeline for implementation
III. Action Plan 2 (1-1.5 pages)
