Question: A 31-year-old Caucasian male named Tex is admitted on an Order of Protective Custody (OPC) to Green Oaks Psychiatric Hospital at Medical City, Dallas. Tex's spouse and high school sweetheart initiated the OPC because Tex was threatening suicide. She is frightened and genuinely concerned about Tex's well-being and safety. Tex has two young children.

Dr. Davis has completed the psychiatric evaluation for Tex and he is now being assessed by a nurse. The nurse notes that the physician orders include placing Tex on suicidal precautions and an order for Haldol 5 mg, & Ativan 2 mg. The nurse notes that Tex seems easily agitated and appears hypervigilant and 'jumpy' in response to noise in the room such as the chair being pulled out or door being shut. The nurse notes that Tex has a tattoo of an American flag and a bald eagle on his right forearm and under it are the letters USMC. The nurse asks, 'Have you served in the military?'
