Assignment:
The purpose of this paper is to identify unhealthy behaviors and implement effective interventions to promote healthier habits. The focus is on a volunteer parent, SD, who has resumed smoking for the last four years after nearly three years of cessation. In addition to smoking, SD states that a sedentary lifestyle has contributed to his return to smoking. One of the most frequently used approaches to behavioral change is the Transtheoretical model (TTM).
This model is used to understand how people change their behavior, and it involves five stages: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance. This work aims to perform a systematic review to identify gaps in the literature concerning this model, with a focus on patient intervention for chronic illnesses (Hashemzadeh et al., 2019).
By using the TTM model of behavior change, it is hoped that SD will be able to stop smoking by the end of the year. This will be achieved by gradually adhering to clinical interventions that can assist with quitting such as nicotine replacement and individual health counselling. In addition to quitting smoking, SD will also focus on leading a healthier lifestyle. This includes going on daily walks, getting enough sleep, and eating a balanced diet. These lifestyle changes will not only help SD quit smoking but also improve his overall health and well-being. The Transtheoretical model can be an effective tool in helping individuals like SD change their unhealthy behaviors and adopt healthier ones. By understanding the stages of change and implementing appropriate interventions, it is possible to help individuals quit smoking and lead healthier lifestyles.
