This activity will need to be observed.

This is a roleplay activity to be conducted in small groups of five to six, with you playing the role of team leader.

You are leading a meeting to identify three new methods of communication to bring two different teams together in the workplace. New methods are required due to a high number of staff members now working from home.

Participants should be split into two groups and refer to the following information for their input:

Team A

You want to move away from standard emails as you feel they are not treated with any urgency. You believe that emails sti?e creativity and idea-sharing, you would prefer video calls and slide-sharing to see information visually. You have researched a few options and would like to try Zoom and Microsoft Teams. A problem you have encountered with people working from home is the lack of availability during working hours.

Team B

You agree that emails seem a bit dated but are not sure of the alternatives. You do not have time to be creating slides specifically for extra meetings. You are aware of a couple of team members who do not like video calls and become quite anxious about the idea. A co-worker has suggested Microsoft Teams as a good place to start and you have heard bad things about Zoom.

As team leaderI you should:

• Ensure effective collaboration between the two teams
• Demonstrate positive conflict resolution skills (as required)
• Engage and motivate both teams to contribute to the meeting
• Adapt your personal communication style to build and maintain trust
• Show respect for the opinions, values and particular needs of others.
