1. Obtain 5 g of yeast. Add to your drinking glass.

2. Measure 50 mL of warm water (100°F/38°C) into a graduated cylinder. Add to your drinking glass.

Gently swirl the drinking glass to mix.

3. Measure 10.0 g of powdered sugar into a weighboat.

4. Add the sugar to the Drinking Glass and IMMEDIATELY draw a line at the surface level of the mixture with the wax marker. Label this line "Initial"

5. After 10 minutes, mark the new surface level of the mixture. Label this line "Final".

6. Using a metric ruler, measure the difference between the "Initial" and "Final" marks in centimeters and record for each trial.

7. Repeat the steps 1-6 using 2 g of flour instead of sugar.
