Case: We engage with many forms of media every day. When we use a form of media to send or receive messages, we call that form of media a "channel." This week, we will look at how media messages can vary depending on the channel that is used. Assignment Preparation
Choose one issue that happened this week and find two different channels that covered it. For example, you can look at the overview of a sports event on TV and then from a social media post, such as a sports blogger or a poster on a video sharing app.
Consider how we receive messages using media and how the channel makes a difference in the content. Assignment Deliverable
Write a reflection about the media message you selected from this week and show how it was portrayed by two different channels. For your reflection, you should:
Briefly explain the issue or story as far as you know it, using no more than 100 words.
Identify the two channels where the media messages appeared. Be sure to include links or URLs for the two media messages.
Explain how the two media messages compare. Why do you think the two messages are different or similar? What impact does the channel have on the content of that message?
