Your tasks

This assessment item requires you to work in a group (no more than 3 students). You and your team (including members from AEW) have only three (3) months to correct the situation. As the project manager, you are required to produce a REPORT to be submitted to AEW senior management team.

Questions:

1. Identify the root cause(s) that lead to the problems using appropriate tools and techniques.

• First you need to identify problems faced by AEW (Look in the "Crack is appearing" paragraph)
• For each of the problem, you need to identify the potential causes and finally identify the root cause(s). You need to demonstrate the use of tools and techniques on how you arrived / determined the root cause. For instance, you may want to use Fish Bone diagram to identify the causes and then further analyse using 5Why technique to determine the root cause.
• Try to use different tools to determine the root cause(s) for each of the problem.
• To attract high marks, you must demonstrate the use of at least 7 different tools and techniques

– J18 (Wk11). The application of 7 QC tools for continuous improvement of manufacturing processes

• Instead you need to show the application of the tool (as shown in Slide #14, Wk 10 Lecture Slide). You need to demonstrate the application of the tool for the AEW case.

• Apart from the Fish Bone diagram, you also need to show the application of other tools (5 Whys, Control Chart, etc) with respect to the AEW case.

• Include any assumptions you have taken to perform the analysis.

2. Develop a risk management plan to ensure the problems and issues are not repeated.

• You need identify risks, perform risk analysis and provide responses as well as high level plan
for the implementation of the responses. Finally, conclude with the status / monitoring of
the risk.
• You may produce the output in table form (see Slide #10, Wk 11 Lecture) and elaborate on
the response implementation plan.

3. In your opinion what leadership style should be adopted to help bring about the necessary changes?

• Look at various leadership style discussed in Lecture 8 (slides #12- 19) and Lecture 9
• Determine what is the leadership style you would adopt to help lead the transformation.

Important Information

You must show evidence of using at least seven (7) tools and techniques that you have learnt from this unit to address question (1) above.

You may refer to the Project Risk Management from PMBOK, PRINCE2 or any other resources to devise your risk management plan - (question 2)

Formatting. The report should be presented in 1.5 line spacing, 12 point Times New Roman font. Report section headings and numbering 1.0, 1.1.2 etc. is expected.
