In practice, a minimum of 25mm clear spacing between the bars is recommended to ensure free flow ofconcrete around each bar (note concrete contains usually 20mm max size aggregatesand additional 5mm for free flow). If the beam is required to be reinforced using N12 bars, identify the practical difficulties of achieving the balanced failure condition and show sketches to illustrate your reasoning. How the difficulty can be overcome by choosing N20bars?
