As a manager, you will be charged with making sure your department or organization runs as effectively and efficiently as possible. You will regularly analyze operations and procedures to make sure your department is maximizing profits and/or offering maximum value for the money.

Consider your current employer or the employer of a friend or close family member and respond to these points in your initial post (question/answer format not essay. 1-3 sentences per question is just fine):

1. Identify the place of business.
2. What goods and/or services are produced?
3. What are the inputs and outputs?
4. Analyze the operations and procedures involved in producing these goods or services.
5. What changes or modifications in operational management have been made over the past year or several years? (Examples: Has any operation been computerized? Are robotics used? Has any work space been redesigned? Have any employees been reassigned? Have job descriptions changed?)
6. Imagine you are the operations manager. What recommendations would you make? What operations procedures or practices would you put into place to increase efficiency or to conserve resources?
