Assignment: Evidence-Based Practicum Project Goals
Develop the Practicum Project Plan. As you will be identifying a problem or issue and then determining a possible solution, it is important that the project is rooted in current and relevant research. Using research to justify and support the objectives of your Practicum Project plan proves that the plan is feasible and worth implementing.
To Prepare:
Question A. Identify a healthcare issue or problem at your practicum site.
Question B. Identify a solution to that issue or problem.
Question C. Using peer-reviewed sources, identify ways in which your proposed solution has been applied in similar situations.
Question D. View the Practicum Project Plan Overview document provided in this week's Learning Resources. Consider the project planning guidelines included in the document as you prepare for this Discussion.
Question E. Review the scholarly literature, specialization standards, and/or regulatory standards that validate and shed light on your Practicum Project focus. Which professional organizations would you contact in relation to your topic? What regulatory standards would you address? As you proceed, you will continue to gather evidence from a combination of sources for your project as part of your written Practicum Project Plan.
Question F. Identify the overarching goal for your Practicum Project.
Question G. Consider how you can achieve your Practicum Project goal through the development and fulfillment of objectives. Based on your Practicum Project goal, and referring to the Learning Resources, develop two or three objectives that are specific, measurable, attainable, results-focused, and time-focused. Incorporate higher-order verbs from Bloom's taxonomy (i.e., application-level and above) as you create the objectives.
Write an explanation of an authentic problem or issue observed at your site that will be the focus of your Practicum Project. Briefly explain your rationale for your selected focus. Describe a solution that is supported by research literature and is realistic-i.e., uses available resources and is plausible within your practicum timeline. Summarize what you have found in the literature, which may include specialization standards and regulatory standards, in terms of solutions to that problem or issue. Next, considering this problem and solution, develop a goal statement for your Practicum Project. Then, create two to three measurable Practicum Project objectives and a list of tasks needed to achieve these objectives.
