A pharmaceutical company wanted to test the effectiveness of a new allergy drug. The company identified 240 adults who suffer from severe allergies. The subjects were randomly assigned to two groups. One group was given the new allergy drug and the other group was given a placebo. After 6 months, the pharmaceutical company compared the average numbers of allergy attacks among the different treatment groups.
