Introduction

The automobile industry in Canada is the 13th largest industry in production in the 7th largest in exports of automobile products. Its total production is 1.4 million vehicles, and its export value is 32 billion dollars. We "Ultimate Desire Motor Company" are the producer of petrol engines, diesel engines, and electric and hybrid cars. The company owns a good market share and has earned good market repute concerning its range of products and bunch of satisfied customers. Carbon emission control and energy conservation are the company's motives and aim to position itself as an environmentally responsible and green company.

The company is planning to introduce innovation in their cars after recognizing the customers' needs through market research. A survey method will be used to find the needs of the customers. University students will be taken as our population to conduct the survey.

Identification of the customer needs

Questionnaire

A questionnaire is designed to identify the needs of the customers. In the assessment, the relevant concerns occurred:

  1. What is your qualification?
  2. Where do you live?
  3. What is your mode of travel? Car/Motorcycle/Shared/Public
  4. How much are you satisfied with your vehicle?
  5. Which deficiency do you feel in your vehicle?
  6. What features do you want to be included in the vehicle?

Need statement

The following needs are identified in the survey which is listed below in a hierarchical order.

  1. Body of vehicle with solar cells to recharge the batteries.
  2. Lightweight electric vehicles are introduced.
  3. Conversion of existing petrol and diesel engines to electric engines may be initiated.
  4. Spacious leg space design is introduced to drive the vehicle for enjoying the drive.
  5. 3D cameras are to be installed to park the vehicle in congested spaces to avoid body damage and accidents.
  6. Airbag sags and other parts replacement policy be initiated and ensured to save the insurance cost of the customers.

On the support of above information provide the following answers; Specifications provide a precise description of what a product must do. They are the translation of the customer needs into technical terms. Targets for the specifications are set early in the process and represent the hopes of the development team. Later these specifications are refined to be consistent with the constraints imposed by the team's choice of a product concept. The output of this stage is a list of target specifications. Each specification consists of a metric and marginal and ideal value for that metric. Please provide all these answers in detail and correct answers.
