Case Study: You are working as a Work Health and Safety (WHS) officer in your training organisation. The management of the organisation wants you to prepare office ergonomic procedures, communicate the office ergonomic procedures to the team members and ensure the team members are clear about the ergonomic requirements.

The purpose of the office ergonomic procedures to help the staff member create a safe and comfortable computer workstation. The office ergonomic procedures must be focused on:

• Evaluating and adjusting the computer workstation to promote neutral postures
• Evaluating and adjusting the seating arrangements
• Evaluating and adjusting the keyboard and pointing device
• Evaluating and adjusting the monitor and its placement
• Evaluating and adjusting the other accessories .

Roles and responsibilities

Question: As part of your job role, you are required to communicate (through written, oral and nonverbal form) with the team members and your Supervisor. You have the following job responsibilities:

• Identify the most appropriate method of communication for the intended audience
• Prepare written material that is clear in meaning and format.
• Undertake routine communication
• Demonstrate active listening and questioning techniques in a workplace discussion
• Participate in and lead workplace communication
• Communicate information and ideas verbally in a workplace discussion, considering the needs of those from diverse backgrounds
• Uses problem-solving skills to identify and analyse issues or barriers, consider options and develop responses and opportunities for improvement
• Report any communication challenges to superiors
• Seek feedback from others on the effectiveness of communication.
