QUESTION: Responding to your classmates' posts, be sure to identify any fallacies and evaluate whether arguments provide sufficient evidence to support their assertions. You are encouraged to challenge each other, but please remember to use appropriate netiquette when responding to one another. Your response should be respectful and constructive.
First-degree murder is the intentional, killing of another person by someone who has acted willfully, deliberately, or with planning. This type of murder occurs when perpetrated from a premeditated design. So, in other words, the defendant intended to kill the victim or consciously makes the decision to kill the person. To participate in first-degree murder, three conditions must be met, these are intent, deliberation, and premeditation. The requirements of a first-degree murder differ by state. States may choose to make exceptions in certain cases or situations.
In my opinion, I do not support the death penalty for first-degree murders. My reason for opposing is that executing a person because he or she killed someone is not justice, this is vengeance. While most people would agree with the term "eye for an eye", I believe the death penalty is morally wrong. Also, when we look at the conviction rate, people of color are convicted more than whites and are more likely to be executed.
Our text (Moore & Parker, 2021) discusses confirmation causal hypotheses, which state confirmation of many cause and effect hypotheses consists in trying to show that the hypothesized cause the condition, but for which the effect in question would not happen.
