Case study;

A worker was assigned the task of manually blending chemicals involving a highly corrosive substance, hydrofluoric (HF) acid.

The worker used cotton gloves during blending operation. The worker experienced severe pain in the fingers of his left hand. As the pain did not subside, he was sent to the hospital for treatment and was given a total of 12 days of medical leave.

Assessor comments;

Identify the failure of OHSMS which includes ensuring operating procedures and safe working conditions to the employees.
