Assignment Description: Group Assignment Each unit during this class, you will be working with a group to complete a group assignment. Each unit there will be a different assignment with different requirements. In order to receive credit for the group project, students must have demonstrated participation in the project.

Participation is measured by the group discussion board, group file exchanges, and recorded group collaborate sessions. Individual assignments will not be accepted. Be sure to review the grading rubric for each group assignment. As the coding manager, you have been directed by the HIM Director to conduct an audit of specific DRG's.

You have been instructed to audit DRG's whose principal diagnosis would be CHF, Unspecified Pneumonia, or COPD. There is an average of 5,000 discharges per year for each of these principal diagnoses.

Identify the DRG's to be audited. Determine how many charts to be audited. Construct an audit template to be used to review the charts. This may be developed in Excel or as Word Document. It should be a single page form that can be used to review each record. Develop a step-by-step procedure for the audit.
