Question: Doug went home from his job as a cook on Wednesday night, the restaurant manager informed him that she would be taking the next two weeks off, and that she was appointing Doug to take her place starting Monday.

Although Doug has more seniority than the other employees have and is an excellent cook, he does not feel confident in being able to handle the manager's job. Doug doesn't feel comfortable dealing with the customers, using the cash register, or handling conflicts that may arise between employees. He feels that he will fail at being able to fill her shoes.

Use the information provided and your knowledge of critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making, and contingency planning to resolve the scenario above. Identify the problem solving strategy you will use and implement this strategy to identify potential solutions. Next, identify the decision-making strategy you will use and implement this strategy to select the solution you feel is best. Finally, include a contingency statement (a full plan is not required) that identifies which solution would be your plan B for Doug and at what point you would implement this alternate solution.
