The 5-year survival rate in the US for women with uterine cancer was approximately 91.6% in 2007. A researcher wants to evaluate whether or not the survival rate has significantly since then. She selects a sample of 120 women diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2011, and finds that 113 were still alive in 2016. Use this information to answer questions 1-4

Conduct the following hypothesis test:

  • A one-tail Z-test for a one-sample proportion at 91% confidence level
  • with Null Hypothesis that the uterine cancer survival rate is equal to 91.6%
  • and with Alternate Hypothesis that the uterine cancer survival rate is greater than 91.6%
  1. Identify the correct critical value, Z?α
  2. Calculate the test statistic, Ztest
  3. Calculate P(Z > Ztest). Hint: Remember that normal tables give left-tail probability
  4. Compare the test statistic to the critical value. Compare P(Z > Ztest) to ?α?. Compare the sample proportion to the null hypothesis proportion. Is there a statistically significant difference to suggest that the uterine cancer survival rate has increased? Is there a practically significant difference? Explain your decisions and justify your claims
