Recent Development in the Country/ world - COVID 19 Global pandemic situation From the begging of the march 2020, total world was in the threat of rapidly developing and spreading Corona Virus, where the World Health Organization (WHO) name it as "Covid 19". Many countries in the world limited human movement within the country as the virus is transmitted from a person to person. Based on the health authority's recommendation Sri Lankan Government also halts with effect from March 18 2020, all passenger flights & ships arrivals into Sri Lanka till Coronavirus threat is brought under control. Governments declare all island curfew for 3 days and it was extended to two weeks and subsequently three months.
All the Schools were closed and people's movements were banned during the curfew period. However, all the compulsory services like health services, transportation of medicine, agriculture products were allowed with special permission. In April/May 2020 Curfew were slightly removed for 19 districts other than Colombo, Gampha, Kalutara, Kandy, Jaffna and Puttalam and few high risk areas. This new movement brought many challenges to the business community to conduct their business specially, when transportations were limited between districts and general public encounter difficulties by losing their daily income and loosing purchasing capabilities. Therefore, Government mediated and paid subsidies for lower income families with the support of divisional secretaries and media of Sri Lanka involve in many policy development and implementations to fight with Corona Virus, Covid 19 epidemic. Three forces, Sri Lanka Police, Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) and Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) were alert in curbing the threat of unseen threat coming from Global epidemic called "Corona Virus" Authorities and experts are on the opinion that, this situation will continue until end of year 2020 and will have negative economic repercussion up to year 2021.
