Question
Today Tanya had lunch with her friend Marsha B. Marsha has worked on the auditor for Zeebest & Associates, CPAs, for three years. Tanya has been with Zeebest for only nine months. During their lunch, Tanya told Marsha that she is having problems getting jobs done in the budgeted number of hours she is given.
Marsha said, "Yeah, that's a problem, Tanya. You'll get quicker with experience, but-don't tell anyone I told you this-some of those audit plans include some pretty outdated and even stupid, worthless procedures. Sometimes I just sign the plan but skip doing the procedure altogether. I don't do all the time, but sometimes I get behind on the job, so I just don't do everything."
Tanya finished her lunch with Marsha, quickly changing the subject and not saying anything more about her work problems. On the way home, Tanya started thinking, "maybe I need to take her advice, take a few short cuts and be more realistic when performing my work."
