Case Study: Sally is 55-year-old woman with 3 children 16, 18, 20 years old. She recently separated from her partner of 25 years. During their marriage Sally didn't work as her partner provided enough income for them to live comfortably. When they met Sally had inherited her grandmother's modest home. Sally works as a volunteer at the local library and runs the "bubs and mums" program, four days a week. Sally always felt like a "single mum" due to her bringing up the 3 children on her own as Sally's husband (Glenn) worked as a Console Operator at the local Service Station working overnight, weekends and public holidays on a rotating shift. They didn't spend much time together and he missed a lot of the children's important events such as, graduations, sporting events, birthday parties, even some Christmas's Glenn was on shift. During their mediation for divorce Glenn had stated that he wanted half of everything including the house due to the time they'd been together and that he was the sole bread winner and would not be able to start again with a mortgage as he was due for retirement. Sally was shocked and could not believe that he would leave her not only to support all 3 children but homeless as she already discovered she would be eligible for a home loan. Sally has come to see you today for assistance with housing.
