Question: Setting aside whatever "national dynamism of our age" is supposed to mean, can anyone here identify some of the fundamental problems with this kind of logic? here is the topic:This is one of the more prevalent fallacies we're looking at this week. I recently read a book I got from the library (How to Think: A Survival Guide for a World at Odds), and in it, I learned a new term called "bulverism." The author, Jacobs, called it another variety of the ad hominem fallacy. It comes from an old C.S. Lewis essay in which a character named Ezekiel Bulver takes the following stance: "Assume that your opponent is wrong, and then explain his error, and the world will be at your feet. Attempt to prove that he is wrong or (worse still) try to find out whether he is wrong or right, and the national dynamism of our age will thrust you to the wall"
