As they grow, children and adolescents experience a rapid and broad expansion of their social environment. School, sports, clubs, community activities, media and social media, and other factors expose children and adolescents to a range of social, cognitive and emotional experiences.
Identify one risk faced by school-aged children and/or adolescents (e.g., eating disorders, anxiety, bullying, delinquency, substance use). Discuss mezzo and macro-level risk and protective factors, using one of the four theoretical lenses (PIE, biopsychosocial, sociocultural, social change). Explore related sociocultural factors and/or social justice issues.
Identify social work prevention and/or intervention efforts that are designed to address the problem. Include evidence-based programs and, if possible, links to services in your area or nationally.
