Carmen is a 33-year-old Hispanic woman who lives with her husband and 9-year-old son. She reluctantly sought assistance after fleeing her home. The client presents with visible, partially healed lacerations and cuts to the face during the intake session. After being asked about her lacerations and cuts, the client reluctantly reports that her husband had physically become violent after coming home intoxicated. She adds that she decided to flee the home after her husband threatened to kill her and her son. The client fears for her child, who remains with the father.
