Discussion Post: Management and Enrollment
Question I
In this learning module, you had the opportunity to explore the role of budgets in shaping systems. Certainly, systems have many moving parts, and the purpose of this discussion question is to reflect on the degree to which budgets have an overall impact on the system. Should budgets be a central focal point? Should it be an afterthought? How do you reach that all-important middle ground where budgets are thoughtfully reflected upon without dominating the process? What is their appropriate role and how can that role be conceptualized?
Question II
In this chapter, you had the opportunity to study issues in emerging markets and market niches in relationship to enrollment planning. Identify several of the most seminal themes that enrollment managers must keep in mind in today's markets. What is predictable? What is unpredictable? How does a manager keep it all in context and plan accordingly?
Question IIII
In this learning module, you had the opportunity to define and explore the concept of budget cycles. You had a chance to look at this concept both from a theoretical standpoint and from an application standpoint in relationship to system implications. For this discussion, define budget cycles and reflect on the degree to which these cycles can shape a system. How can they impact the bottom line? How can they impact how an organization is being run?
Question IV
In this module, you had the opportunity to give consider the role of transfer and articulation in the enrollment process. Given the high number of transfers today and the degree to which these transfers are likely to impact enrollment, articulate some best practice approaches to this issue and the steps you can take to manage this process more effectively based on the readings.
