Paige is a 16-year-old from semi- remote First Nation community. She is 12 weeks pregnant with her first child. Paige arrives at her first Prenatal visit accompanied by her mother. Paige is very quiet and makes limited eye contact during the visit. Her mother inquired if Paige would be able to breastfeed her baby. Paige rolled her eyes at the mention of breastfeeding. Paige lives at home with her parents and is the youngest of three children. Paige who is in grade 11, does well in school and is a member of the school basketball team. She tells you that her boyfriend, Sean, is supportive of pregnancy but she is unsure if she wants to keep the baby. Paige is considering her career as a nurse and is worried she will not be able to meet the demands of being a new mom while continuing her education.
