The research article chosen on Research Presentation 1, was "Cultural Differences in the Impact of Social Support on Psychological and Biological Stress Responses''. This study focused on the response to stressors and how social support between Asians and Asian and European Americans' culture affects that response. In the hypothesis it was stated that Asians' and Asian Americans' psychological and biological responses to a laboratory stressor would be benefited more when implicit support was activated (Welch et al., 2007). The preliminary challenges that were noticed were that there were more females than males included in the study. There were 48 females to 33 males. Although there was only one more person in the Asian and Asian American group versus the European American group, it is unclear how many were males and females. Lastly, it is unclear about the number of people represented in the age groups from the age ranges of 18 and 37 years old.

According to Heine (2020), we cannot manipulate cultural backgrounds, therefore making sure that there are equal numbers of participants, males and females, on both sides, seems to be vital. Also, I would make sure to have an equal number of participants for each 5 years of participants. For example, 5, twenty years old, 5, twenty-five years old's, and so on.

My hypothesis and methods, however, do seem to remain the same, and do seem to have the same results. The results are consistent with the hypothesis. Asians and Asian Americans experienced more distress when explicit support was activated. They were less stressed in implicit-support conditions. European Americans experienced less distress when explicit support was activated.
