Color of Fear Assignment
1. Watch the first 40 minutes of The Color of Fear (We will do this in class).
2. Drawing on DiAngelo Chapter 12: Common patterns of well-intentioned white people, identify at least 2 of the following patterns, either in one of the white men in the film, or in yourself as you watched the film. Say what the pattern is and then where you saw it in the film or in yourself.
• Guilt
• Seeking absolution
• Feeling indignant/unfairly accused
• Objectifying
• Rushing to prove ourselves
• Ignoring
• Assuming POC have same experience white people do
• Pretending preference for segregation is accidental
