While working in the criminal justice system, professionals will encounter various criminal behaviors. The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize you with each of the theories of criminal behavior as well as applying various theories to practical scenarios.
Preparation
Review Chapters 5-8 of your textbook, Introduction to Criminology: Theories, Methods, and Criminal Behavior to prepare for this assignment.
Scenario
You are part of a task force that is assessing the increase of criminal behavior within your community. The police and city leaders want to know more about the causes of crime. You find the best way to present the information is through a chart and using some recent events as scenarios to determine which theory applies to that specific criminal behavior.
Instructions
Complete the tables in the Week 6 Assignment Template to address the following:
Define theories identified with themes of Sociological, Biological, Early, and Classical.
Identify person(s) associated with each theory.
Apply the correct theory to each scenario.
For each table in the template, make sure that you:
Complete the table by filling in the missing information.
Using the theories, determine which theory best suits/fits the included scenario and provide 1-2 sentences supporting your rationale for the selection of the theory.
