Homework: Personal Cultural Narrative
In addition to exploring concepts related to diversity, this course has prompted you to consider aspects of your own culture, your varied identities, and what makes you you.
One important facet of the strengths perspective is to listen to the story that the client tells and to acknowledge their experience as they give voice to it. Everyone has a story-you included. In fact, the Tenement Museum (2020) in New York has asked people across the United States to share their own stories, in the form of cultural artifacts. The result is a rich tapestry of human migration, history, and diversity.
For this Homework, you add your voice to this human tapestry by developing your own cultural narrative.
