Case Study
Yun Ding is 79-year-old man who was admitted to the emergency department with new onset left-sided facial drop, left-sided arm and leg weakness, slurred speech and a sudden onset of a severe headache. These symptoms have been present for the last hour.
A history revealed that Yun has had previous transient ischaemic attacks (TIAs) x 2 in the past year. He has hypertension and is overweight with a poor diet (high in salt) and lack of physical exercise.
A CT scan has revealed a right-sided thrombotic cerebrovascular accident (CVA). Treatment is commenced with tissue plasminogen activator (tPA).
Yun lives at home with his wife who is in good health. He is left-handed. He has a supportive family.
Question 1.
