Questions: This assignment is in critical analysis and managerial thinking. For this practical purpose, will be playing the role of a Public Management Consultant, who specializes in the following AREAS of organizational performance improvement
(A) External Stakeholder Needs, (B) Organizational or Program Design and (C) Project Management
In a capacity as Consultant, suppose I am being hired by the Chief Executive of department of probation to do the following:
1) Identify the major, most pressing performance-related problem currently affecting each of the above-mentioned areas within the agency.
2) Determine (prioritize) which ONE of these above three problems is the most critical; and
3) Propose a realistic plan of action to redress the ONE most critical problem, and improve the overall performance of the organization.
Next, conduct a critical, in-depth analysis of each of the problems which already identified and described in the above questions. Such detailed analysis entails:
(4) Discussing and ranking the problems in order of importance or priority, so as to determine which ONE needs to be improved ("fixed") on an urgent basis; and explaining why;
(5) Selecting the ONE most critical problem currently faced by the organization (or sub-unit), as the exclusive focus. In so doing, must provide a clear rationale or explanation as to why the ONE you have chosen is the most compelling problem affecting the overall performance of the organization;
(6) Discussing potential approaches to tackle the selected most critical problem, and deciding on the most appropriate course of action. Be sure to discuss the strengths, limitations, and risks of each of these approaches, and provide a rationale or justification for the final decision. For example, explaining why the proposed corrective action is the most appropriate to overcome the most critical performance-related problem/issue?
