Imagine that you are an Operations Executive in a public health system and you're going to start a healthcare organization to support your system's mission. Your goal is to improve population health in your community/region. However, before you are able to start this organization, you need to convince the Chief Executive Officer of how you will do so.

Your assignment this week is to develop a proposal articulating how you would start this healthcare organization from the perspective of legal structure. This proposal will be read by your Chief Executive Officer for approval. In this proposal, make sure to cover the following points:

  • Identify how you would organize the structure
    • Including whether you would organize as a for-profit or not-for-profit (and why); whether the organization should be public or private (and why)
  • Describe whether you would employ or contract with the medical staff and support your decision
  • Explain the strength and weakness of your approach
  • Discuss any potential legal concerns you might want addressed.
