Case Study: Elsa (age 16 months) is currently in foster care after removal from her family. Elsa was removed due to neglect and domestic violence which included being diagnosed as malnourished and is currently on a gastric nasal tube for feeding. Reports alleged that Elsa had been left in her cot without interaction for many hours. She currently is displaying global delay. She is learning to raise her head when lying on her stomach. She is not yet able to roll over. Elsa no longer cries and initially showed no interaction when spoken to however in the last four weeks since moving into care she is now responding to her foster carer by smiling, imitating sounds and actions. Elsa is having supervised visitation with her mum and dad once a fortnight.
