Local Maori have proposed a joint venture with Emma's Eco Experiences using iwi owned land for the construction of a small wind farm using emerging technology. This would be Emma's first business venture with iwi (tribe). The outcome of this arrangement would mean Emma's business being able to effectively 'go off the grid' to supply all her own energy needs (including charging her fleet of electric vehicles) plus this venture would then be able to supply low-cost sustainable energy to members of the local community, and provide a profit to Emma and her business partners.
Emma is keen to develop good long-term relationships with Maori and establish further business opportunities. She is also very interested to learn more about how Maori sustainable business practices might be integrated into Emma's Eco Experiences to further enhance her sustainability focus.
Emma knows from reading Paul (2019-2020) that Maori sustainable business practices are underpinned by three fundamental tikanga (customary practices and behaviours). This involves integrating connection with the environment, nurturing relationships with people, and reconsidering what profit means.
1. Identify ONE external environmental factor (e.g. Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, or Legal) that Emma should consider as embarks on this endeavour and justify your choice.
2. Then advise Emma on how she could incorporate tikanga into Emma's Eco Experiences to further grow and develop relationships with her stakeholders and to further her sustainability goals.
