Now that you have familiarity with different worldviews and how it affects the way we understand the natural world, I want us to apply together these epistemologies in light of environmental justice and environmental racism issues on a local, national, and global level. Working definitions are below for you to reflect on.

In class next time, we will discuss these events by places in the world that they are occuring.

Environmental justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income.

Environmental racism or ecological apartheid is a form of institutional racism leading to landfills, incinerators, and hazardous waste disposal being disproportionately placed in communities of color.
