Assessment Task 1

Student Information:

Activity 1.

For this Assessment Activity, you are required to analyse information from a range of internal and external sources for "Human Resource Planning Requirements" of Healthcare United (HU), a healthcare provider in Australia.

To assist you with this Assessment Task, you have been provided with a range of business documents from Healthcare United (see Appendix 1).

Note - sources of information for human resource planning should be acquired by utilising information from this Case Study but you may also conduct Internet research, to complete this Assessment activity.

After analysing the required information, you will be required to draft a report, to determine HU's:
– human resource strategic direction, objectives and targets, trends and emerging practices that may have an impact on human resource management, and relevant technology,
– recent and potential changes to industrial and legal requirements, future labour needs and skills requirements, as well as options for sourcing labour, and their organisation's preferences regarding human resources of Healthcare United.

Your report should contain three sections, namely -
a) an opening paragraph identifying what the report contains
b) body paragraphs outlining their Human Resource Planning Requirements; specifically your plan must include, a budget, priorities, agreed objectives, targets, programs and practices based on cost-benefit analysis, timeframes, risk management and evaluation against objectives.
c) a concluding paragraph summarising the report with suggested recommendations

o When you have drafted your report, show it to your Trainer for feedback, and incorporate any changes you believe are required and then submit it to your Assessor as evidence for summative assessment.
During this Assessment Activity you will be observed by your Assessor demonstrating the following:

Researching planning requirements by:
• Analysing strategic plans to determine human resource strategic direction, objectives and targets
• Undertaking additional environmental analysis to identify emerging practices and trends that may impact on human resource management in the organisation
• Identifying future labour needs, skill requirements and options for sourcing labour supply
• Considering new technology and its impact on job roles and job design
• Reviewing recent and potential changes to industrial and legal requirements

Activity 2.

For this Assessment Activity, you are required to consult and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders to develop, implement, monitor and review the strategic human resource plan that you developed in Activity 1. (Your Assessor will Role-play stakeholder of Healthcare United for this Activity).

Your consultation with the stakeholders (your Assessor) will involve you in discussing the following issues:
– How you developed the plan; and
– How you intend to implement, monitor and review HU's strategic human resource plan

Once you have consulted and communicated the required information, draft a report outlining how you intend to implement, monitor and review the strategic human resource plan.

o Show your draft report to your Trainer for feedback and incorporate any changes you think are appropriate and submit your final report to your Assessor as evidence for summative assessment.
During this Assessment Activity you will be observed by your Assessor demonstrating the following:

Developing a human resource strategic plan by:
• Consulting relevant managers about their human resource preferences
• Agreeing on human resource philosophies, values and policies with relevant managers
• Developing strategic objectives and targets for human resource services
• Examining options for the provision of human resource services and analyse costs and benefits
• Identifying appropriate technology and systems to support agreed human resource programs and practices
• Writing a strategic human resource plan and obtain senior management support for the plan
• Developing risk management plans to support the strategic human resource plan

Implement human resource strategic plan by:
• Working with others to see that the plan is implemented
• Monitoring and review the plan
• Adapting plan should circumstances change
• Evaluating and review performance against plan objectives

Student Information:
– You are to read the following six (6) questions and seek for guidance from your Assessor for clarification, if required.
– Please print your answers for each question on separate sheet, making sure that your Name, your Student ID, Unit Name and Code, Task Number, Question number and Date of submission are included on your answer sheet.
o As this is an "Open Book" Assessment, you may use any material provided to you by your Trainer relating this Unit of Competency or use the Internet to research for a suitable response, however this will require you to identify the source that you have used, at the end of your answer.
– Before submitting your answer sheet please show it to your Trainer for feedback and incorporate any changes you believe are necessary before submitting your final answers to your Assessor as knowledge evidence for summative assessment.
– Your Assessor will deem each answer as either S - Satisfactory or NS - Not Satisfactory.
– In the event that you are deemed NS - Not Satisfactory, you will receive specific feedback from your Assessor and you then will be required re-submit the answer(s) on a separate page. Ensure that your Name, Student ID, Unit Name and Code, Task Number, Question number and Date of submission on your re-submitted answer(s).
– Only when have answered all the questions S- satisfactorily you then will be deemed S - Satisfactory for this Assessment Task.

Assessment Task 2 - Student Assessment Instructions: The evidence you need to provide for summative assessment

For this Assessment Task you will be required to answer the three questions on a separate, typed sheet:

• If all the Assessment Tasks are not satisfactorily completed, the student will be deemed NYC – Not Yet Competent and the Assessor will detail the reasons for this assessment decision on the front page of this document. • Students can appeal to Vocational Training Institute’s CEO against an assessment decision. This appeal should be made in writing within 7 days of the assessment decision, outlining their reasons for the appeal.

Students must complete all assessment Tasks and submit their evidence to the Assessor. Each Assessment Task will be deemed as either S – Satisfactory or NS – Not Satisfactory by the Assessor. Students will be given feedback by the Assessor on the evidence they have submitted for summative assessment. The Assessor will use Assessment Task Checklists to ensure that all the assessment requirements have been achieved. If an Assessment Task is deemed as NS – Not Satisfactory, the Assessor will provide specific feedback to the student and the student will then be required to re-submit their evidence. When all Assessment Tasks have been deemed as S – Satisfactory, the student will then be deemed C – Competent.
