Problem

I. Ponder some common areas where we may struggle with "just going through the motions" and be application-focused rather than doctrinal- or principle-focused. (Some examples include: prayer, use of technology and media, church attendance, serving or ministering to others, etc.).

II. Select an area of your life where you tend to focus too much on applications or behaviors.

III. Identify a doctrinal "why" and related principles that would help you with the area where you are application-focused. Remember: Principles grow out of doctrines, and doctrines answer the question of "why?"
