The primary objective for this lesson is emotional engagement of an audience. Using the the language devices described in your textbook you will practice using your words to connect with your audience in an original toast speech. Now that you are equipped with a fundamental understanding of outlining you will submit a completed speech manuscript to the instructor.

This assignment relates to the following Module 07 learning objectives:

• identify different types of special occasion speeches.
• utilize strategies for audience engagement in social contexts.
• apply the use of language (figures of speech and language devices).
• reinforce best practices for outlining a speech and creating self-designed manuscripts.

Special Occasion speeches often rely on the use of language structures and devices (see for examples) to help heighten the importance and emotion of the situation and create talking points of memorability when the speech is over. , you will submit a complete manuscript of your toast speech showing how you will utilize language and structural organization. Focusing on emotional engagement and the use of vivid language, utilize at least 5 different language structures or devices (also known as figures of speech) during your presentation. Please BOLD and label the language structures and devices that you use in your final manuscript so that your instructor can easily identify which figures of speech you intended to use. EX.
