Lab Objectives:
The purpose of this lab is to let students practicing the methodology and skills learned in the class to design and implement a database which can be used to support business operations. Students should choose a line of business they are most familiar with to start the business data modeling process. Using the database design roadmap as a process guideline..
Lab Description:
Business data modeling is a process to identify data and their relations which are needed to support business operations. An E-R data model and its E-R diagram representation is the result of a business data modeling process.
Lab asks students to follow the Database Design Roadmap presented in last lecture to develop an E-R data model. Make sure the E-R data model is a true reflection of business operation (check the entities, relationships and mapping cardinalities are all correct).
Lab Deliverable
This is an individual student assignment. Each student should submit a lab report that
Indicate the line of business data you are working on. Develop an E-R data model (E-R diagram). In the E-R data model limited the number of Entities (Minimum 3 and Maximum 5). An entity must be in one or more relationships with other entities. Total number of relationships should be limited 5-7.
