Problem: Dynamics of a Local Ecosystem
In this activity, you will have to visit an ecosystem in your local area. You will make field observations and gather information using a digital camera or digital video camera. You will collect all the information and create a presentation using any presentation software. You will submit the presentation for grading.
You will need these materials:
1. digital camera/video camera
2. notepad
3. pen/pencil
Stay safe. An ecosystem consists of different plants and animals.
Part 1: Identify biotic and abiotic factors in the ecosystem.
Part 2: Identify the biome and characterize its biodiversity.
Part 3: Identify a keystone species, if applicable.
Part 4: Identify the most common types of organisms in the ecosystem.
Part 5: Identify interactions among species, such as competition or predation.
Part 6: Describe the type and stage of the succession, and predict how the ecosystem will change in the future.
Part 7: Draw a food web for the ecosystem, and discuss the flow of mass and energy through the food chain.
