Question
Identify at least three processes, ideas, tools, techniques, or plans that you have learned from this course and plan to use as a project manager. Also, how did your peers and instructor contribute to this discussion? What would be most helpful to you and why?
1. Brainstorming for Risk Management-Throughout many of the course readings I found that there is a great deal of information that supports using brainstorming sessions for risk management planning and mitigation plans. Collaborating among stakeholders can help identify risks that may otherwise be overlooked.
2. Risk Identification Questions-I found this to be a highly beneficial tool in helping identify potential risks that may otherwise be overlooked. Personally, I have only worked on one project that the PM had used this questionnaire form which helped identify risks that likely would not have been brought up. For example: External risks for environment or weather. This may not always be a risk that impacts your direct location but if you are working on a project across multiple locations this could be a serious risk to the project.
3. Risk Breakdown Structure-Creating a risk breakdown structure with more than one level of planning. I found generating a spreadsheet with 3 levels of risk to be helpful and had located a great example from Project Manager.com that led me to review risk at a deeper level. See the below example for a better understanding.
