We all live by some kind of standards - ideals, character traits, guiding principles.Examples: trustworthy, accountable, adventuresome, passionate. Those standards flow out of our core values. Core values are qualities like honesty, integrity, compassion. Can you identify your core values? Here are questions to get you thinking:How do I test and evaluate the choices I make?What constitutes reality, and how do I find it?How much of my values will I give up to be accepted by others? Am I more concerned with being successful or authentic?How important is the honest pursuit of excellence?Does my concept of right and wrong depend on the situation?Can people count on me to keep my word? Do I acknowledge a higher authority in life than my own opinion and experience? What is my attitude toward laws and rules, and those who enforce them?How do I respond to problems and adversity?

Identify at least three of your core values. Analyze your responses to the above questions to figure out what they tell you about your core values! For example, if you have a difficult time with any kind of authority, is that more because you are independent or rebellious? Write your definition for each value.Describe how each value influences your life.
