Assignment:
For this assignment first students will identify an aspect of online interpersonal communication. This is the list you may choose from:
- How do we indicate romantic interest/ pursue romantic relationships via social media?
- How do we document relationship milestones on social media?
- What are some dos and don'ts for sharing/ managing secrets via social media?
- Stalking/ Obsessive behaviors on social media: How do we manage those and protect ourselves?
- Personal identity: What are some dos and don'ts for protecting our own identity when engaging in social media behaviors?
- Announcements: Whether it's baby news, or relationship updates, what are some dos and don'ts for making announcements on social media?
- When it comes to excessive social media use, how do we negotiate that with a relationship partner?
- How should couples set boundaries regarding social media behaviors that may cause jealousy?
Once you choose a topic, you must upload your choice into Canvas into the Discussion Board Labeled "Interview Topic" and make sure to include the whole question (not just the number). Only four students can choose a single topic, and all topics must be covered in the class.
Once students have decided on a topic, the student will create an Interview Plan, where they will describe, and justify, your plan for interviewing four individuals in order to better understand a specific online communication behavior. It should clearly explain your plan for the interview, including the following three sections:
Section One: Interview Purpose: Clearly identify the online communication behavior you hope to understand through this interview. In 2-3 sentences justify your choice by explaining why this behavior is important for us to understand.
Section Two: Participants: Identify your intended interviewees (by initials) and justify your choice. You may choose someone because he or she has had personal experience with this issue, or the person has had some content experience through education or professional experience.
Section Three: Interview Questions: List the questions you plan to ask the participants in order to better understand their perspective on this communication behavior.
