Scenario:

Now that you have educated your staff regarding demographic information relative to homelessness and provided a memo for discussion at the next Board of Trustees meeting, you need to explore existing programs that provide services for preventing homelessness. You will research existing programs that provide any aspect of social services and other assistance for individuals enduring homelessness or the threat of homelessness.

As a leader, you must compare and contrast the available resources to effectively think of the type of homelessness program that you would like to implement. The comparative analysis through the paper to be written in this module will introduce the strategic plan that you will develop later.

Instructions:

With any new program being implemented, researching existing programs is necessary because understanding available services in the community can allow for making comparisons so that something innovative can be designed for implementation.

First, research local community services and social services programs in your area that provide supportive social services for individuals that are homeless or facing homelessness.

Write a comparative analysis paper that includes the following:

Discuss existing local homelessness assistance programs.
Identify the similarities between the social services the existing programs provide.
Identify areas of need for social services associated with homelessness that are not currently being addressed by existing programs. This may present a gap that can lead to implementing a new program to address homelessness.
