Abstract

This study examined the relationship between procrastination and self-control. Based on past research by Ferrari & Emmons (1995), this study attempted to replicate a negative relationship between the two variables. Data from procrastination and self-control measures was collected from a convenience sample (N=190) and analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficient. As hypothesized, there was a negative relationship between procrastination and self-control. The correlation was significant, r(188, N=190) = - 0.614, p < .05, and explained 38% of the variation in procrastination. Findings suggest that self-control may be useful in understanding procrastination behaviours.
