The course objectives met by this assignment include:

2. Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of interpersonal communication on specific management processes and outcomes using relevant theories and concepts by understanding the relationships between security and personnel, between security and law, between security and ethics;

3. Communicate professionally and effectively in written communication to various audiences to achieve targeted outcomes demonstrating and collating concepts of Cyber Security.

Background

In this assessment, you are required to write a research paper. First, you are required to select a suitable organization of your choice. (Select a bigger and famous organization in USA, Europe or Australia that can addresses most of the components in this course objectives. I.e. Government / Private or well-known companies CERT/CC, MITRE Corporation, SANS Institute )

Once you select a suitable organization, you are required to conduct a critical evaluation and review the current state of the organisation's cyber security landscape. For example, you need to assess the current cyber security landscape of your selected organization with regard to the topics we have covered in the lecture. You will need to develop and discuss intended preliminary cybersecurity policy that considers legal and ethical cybersecurity issues of the organization you have selected. You can get further information from the Chapter 1-4 of the textbook [Whitman, ME & Mattord, HJ 2018]. In addition, in the research paper, you are required to include suggestions for improvements that the organisation could adopt to improve their cyber security.

If you are currently working at this organisation, please make sure NOT to divulge any sensitive information (you may wish to check online what information is made public by the organisation to ensure this).

Research Paper structure

Write a research paper and organise it in the following way:

• Title (you are required to decide your paper's title)
• Your name and student number
• Abstract (about 100 words)
• Introduction
• Body context (you could divide into several sub-sections if required)

• Based on the analysis of the current cybersecurity landscape of your selected organization.
• Develop a preliminary security policy for your selected organisation that considers the essential legal and ethical issues in cybersecurity.
• Any other suitable cyber security topic related to Chapter 1 to Chapter 4.
