Every field of study begins with originators who establish concepts and theories to be tested, applied, and adapted according to the findings.

For example, adult learning theories were developed over time as disciplines such as psychology, sociology, and philosophy. The theories are used to explore how and why adults learn. The field of strategic management is no different. This week's Discussion has two parts.

Part I

As a class, collectively construct a historical timeline of the contemporary era of strategic management. Identify and research a theorist or major contributor to strategic management or strategic planning in that ten-year period.

In your post, include:

The initial of the first name and last name only (e.g., K. Branson) of a strategic management theorist or major contributor for your designated decade. If someone else has identified the same name within or outside the same decade, that is just fine.

Part II

Review all student posts in the threads to gain a sense of the historical development within strategic management.

Analyze and synthesize the collective timeline by posting your response to the Discussion thread answering:

What decade was the most influential in developing the current approach to strategic management and how do you support that assertion?

Can you find evidence that these researchers networked with each other?

Cite 2 published article that includes at least two of these researchers as evidence that these researchers collaborated with each other.

Identify a professional organization where you might meet and network with potential strategy (or business) professionals. Include your assessment of the value of networking within this organization.
