Question: The topic is: The effects of social media use on life satisfaction (or productivity).

Work individually to conduct background research and independently develop a study question and hypothesis that is testable using survey methods.

Part 1: Background research and hypothesis development

For this students works individually to develop a research question related to the topic selected by their team and propose a hypothesis that is testable using survey methodology.

Assignment Outline

Title page

Introduction and literature review

(a) Define the topic and its importance.
(b) Explain relevant theories and describe past research on the topic
(c) Identify and explain gaps in knowledge based on the past research

Part 2

Hypothesis and proposal (approx. 400 words)(LO #hypothesisdevelopment)

(a) State your hypothesis followed by a sentence that clearly identifies your variables.** Please explain the rationale behind your hypothesis using evidence. Why should the reader believe your hypothesis?**

(b) Justify the plausibility of your hypothesis. Please refer to the lesson plan of plausibility and evaluate your hypothesis based on criteria such as parsimony, generalizability, specificity etc. with explanations.

(c) Explain how the hypothesis is testable using survey methodology. Please discuss the scales that will be used with citations for both the IV and DV and any other confounding/control variables. Also, explain steps in data collection using the observational study design using a survey. The scales you will be using for the IV and DV should be taken from prior empirical research. Please do your search to find the correct scales for your study and cite the reference.

(d) Identify possible target population(s) for a survey.
Reference list between 6 and 8 should be scholarly.

Word count between 900-1,100

Assignment Grading
#Evidence based: Identify and appropriately structure the information needed to support an argument effectively.

Some other checklists:

What is the hypothesis that you will be testing?
Mention your IV (Independent Variable) and DV (Dependent Variable). Also, write down the scale that you will use for each of the IV and DV. What scale did you use? What Likert scale did you use?

Evaluate your hypothesis using Plausibility criteria (e.g. parsimony, specificity, generalizability). How will your hypothesis be tested? Explain briefly, sampling, study design, and target population.

We need theories, theoretical background. We need to compare between articles.

(a) Define the topic and its importance.
(b) Explain relevant theories and describe past research on the topic

(c) Identify and explain gap(s) in knowledge based on the past research

State hypothesis and variables, explain the rationale, and provide evidence by looking for scholar's.

How do you test your hypothesis, means what research design to ensure the correct reason, based on what empirical studies and based on what researches.

Anything read by the articles and written in the assignment should be referenced, intent citation.
