The material this week has talked a lot about handling conflict and where conflict comes from. However, it can be difficult to think conflict through when we're caught in the moment. Being able to recognize conflict in your own experiences is important to working through it and using that conflict to become a better employee. For this week's discussion post, you will need to think back through your personal experiences with conflict, analyze where they came from, and explain how they could have been handled. It's important to thoroughly explain the emotions, background, and relationships among everyone involved. This will help you understand each person's motivations and actions. Please make sure to complete the following: Questions to be Addressed Write a paragraph summarizing a time when you experienced or witnessed others experiencing conflict. Identify and explain at least two factors from the Wheel of Conflict that played a role in this conflict developing. Explain how the situation could have been handled more effectively. If the situation was handled effectively, explain how. I added the two wheel of conflict factors you need to use. Values: Different people have different wants, needs, and goals (working late to make overtime compared to wanting to go home on time). Assuming others, even from a perspective of thinking it is a positive offer or collaborative approach, could lead to a negative response if your values, ideology, or beliefs differ. History: The relationship and past experiences between two people involved in a conflict/dispute can lead to people making assumptions about the other developing a negative bias prior to even engaging the person.
